Looking After Your Pet: Only Give Treats As Treats!
It may seem like stating the obvious. But, treats should be given as treats, not regular staples in a dog’s diet. The truth is that a large proportion dog owners give their pets countless treats.
All dogs can have treats unless your vet advices otherwise, but you need to provide them carefully.
Supplying a dog countless treats is likely to mean they don’t feel hungry when you provide the healthy foods that they need in their diet. If they overeat on treats, will they eat the nutritionally balanced food that you are giving them too? Very likely they will not.
Also, most treats made for dogs are not nutritious options in the least. Very many contain with fats and other products that may very easily cause the pet to become too heavy.
As an alternative to giving treats on a every day footing as part of their daily diet, you could use treats for obedience training reasons, to distract from the cutting of nails and even as a way of rewarding your pet.
However, you need to limit the amount that you offer them as well as how frequently that they are given them. This will undoubtedly lose any excess pounds by reducing the calories they are getting from treat products.
And remember the supreme way to show you adore your pet is to feed it nutritous food. After all you want a strong, healthy companion.
