Flags of the World Quilt

April 16th, 2008

My quilting circle decided to make quilts for each of the schools in our small town to have in the sickroom for students or teachers who become ill. We decided to make them as educational as they were pretty and practical so we chose flags of the world as the theme. Since most flags are rectangular, we used rectangles instead of squares. Emblems and other things were embroidered on the flags in each panel. On the strips of white between rows we put the name of the country above and the capital city below. I don’t know how much a sick student will be able to learn but we ladies sure did while we made these quilts.
