Selling Your Property: Getting Rid of Clutter
The business of selling houses is nowmore sophisticated in its understanding of what sells. In fact, there are many people who have made a career of just this study and the job of staging a house for selling.
There is a art to being able to properly “stage” a house these days. But, while it is an extremely productive labor, it is not one that takes a vast amount of money. It’s just a situation of improving your current environs.
It is vital to view your house not through your own eyes, but through the eyes of a prospective purchaser. Look at the house as though you’ve never been there or seen it before in your life.
You need to clear out surplus accessories and furniture from the inside of your house as far as possible. If an item of furniture is too large for the room you must put it in storage, have a garage sale, or donate it to a favorite charity.
The same applies to oversized stuffed animals, decorations, and other bric-a-brac that you may have collected over the years. Any item that takes up space needs to be considered, and if it’s not necessary, you should remove them from the property.
Nothing is more compelling at opening up a room than clearing out clutter. It will seem so much more roomy without all of your unnecessary things in the way.
You need to give particular attention to keeping doorways and hallways clear. Not only will this make a prospective purchaser feel that they will be buying a more spacey house, and can more easily picture their own items inside of it.
Work your way through the home and clear the clutter from all of the horizontal surfaces, kitchen counters, and bathroom countertops.
This means that you won’t be leaving out any magazines, bric-a-brac, or other various items to add to a cluttered look in your home. Either pack them or get rid of them in some other way.
