Frontier pioneers at the American West Heritage Center

June 23rd, 2008

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to be a pioneer living out on the frontier, then you have to wonder no more. Just take a trip to the American West Heritage Center and you can get a good idea of the life and hardships that these people had to endure. You can experience farm life on the Jensen Historical Farm or see what it would have been like to live as a fur trading mountain man at the Mountain Man Camp. At the Pioneer Village, you can see a dugout, a cabin, and a wagon encampment, and at the Native American Encampment, you can learn about the Shoshone Nation, the natives that inhabited the land originally. At all of the exhibits, you will find plenty of interactive activities for kids and adults alike. There is something for just about every member of the family here. Pony rides and wagon rides are also available at different times throughout the day, and it is possible to stay overnight in a tipi at the Native American Encampment and learn even more about the culture and history of the Shoshone people. The price of admission is quite affordable for any budget, and the family will definitely have a good time.
